Along with being old, this thread has no relevance to PowerShell.

The question would have been better-asked over here:

would it be advisable to Convert very large files with this method?

Thank you for sharing multiple free manual processes for converting an OST file into PST format.

After applying the manual process for converting OST files into PST format, if you are still facing errors, then you can go for a technical solution like the OST to PST Converter Tool, which is user-friendly and will provide an error-free result. You can try it with any version of Outlook files and to perform with this, you don't need an Exchange server. Install this solution on Windows OS and use a free demo.

Thank You...

Here are the steps you need to take to change an OST file to a PST file in Microsoft Outlook. Even though these steps are free, they can be hard to follow, and you could lose your info if you don't. Before going any further, make sure you have a copy of your info.

Step 1: Open email app Microsoft Outlook

  • Make sure that the OST file is linked to your Outlook account.
  • The information needs to be saved as a PST file in Outlook.

Step 2: Open the "File" menu.

  • Click on the File tab in the upper left area of Outlook when it's open.
  • You can choose Open & Export from the list of choices.
  • After that, pick Import/Export.

Step 3: "Export to a File"

  • Pick Export to a file in the Import and Export Wizard.
  • Press Next.

Step 4: Pick out an Outlook data file (.pst).

  • Pick out Outlook Data File (.pst) on the next screen.
  • Press Next.

Step 5: Pick the folder you want to export

  • Pick the email account or place that you want to send the file to.
  • You can pick your whole mailbox or just certain areas, like Contacts, Inbox, or Sent Items.
  • Make sure the Include subfolders box is checked if you want to include subfolders.

Step 6: Pick a Place to Save the PST file

  • Click Browse and then choose where to save the PST file.
  • Pick a place on your computer to save the file, give it a name, and then click Finish.

Not everyone should use the free, manual method for converting OST to PST. The procedure takes a long time and is hard to understand for people who aren't tech-savvy. There are several steps you are required to take, and if you make a mistake, you could lose your info. Also, it's hard to work with big OST files or many files at once. There's no promise that all of your emails, contacts, and files will move over correctly. A one-time conversion might work, but an expert program would save you a lot of trouble if you need answers you can trust quickly. In general, it's possible, but not easy to use.

In couple of situations only, the free solution will work and let you to access your old data. So, it is always suggested that don't risk your mailbox data of loosing.
