Recently, the night light has not been turning on automatically.

A few days ago, I realized that despite having the Night Light set on the "Sunset to sunrise" schedule, it did not activate as expected. Instead, it displayed "Off until {sunset-time}" even though that time had already passed. Only after toggling between the scheduled settings and that specific option did it eventually activate. Initially, I dismissed this issue as a one-time occurrence, but the following day, it happened once again. It was only yesterday, after restarting my system due to the KB5030310 update, that the Night Light feature finally turned on automatically.

 

I am uncertain whether this problem arose after updating to KB5030219 two weeks ago, as I stepped away from my PC shortly thereafter. However, it is worth mentioning that the day before this issue started, I updated my Nvidia drivers to the latest version (GRD 537.42). Despite checking their official feedback thread and other online resources, I have not found any reports from users facing a similar problem.

 

I ran the sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth commands recently, which detected a corrupted file named "BthHfEnum.sys" and successfully repaired it. Surprisingly, upon rerunning the scan today, the same file corruption was detected again. I am unsure if this is connected to the Night Light issue or if it requires further attention.

 

I am curious if other users who have the latest Windows 11 updates and Nvidia drivers are encountering the same problem. Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

@DanielThomasI have a similar situation.

I use a Lenovo laptop that recently received update KB5042099 on 8/19/24, and I've encountered several issues since then:

  • My Settings app crashes when I attempt to open Display settings.
  • The NightLight setting on the taskbar is disabled.
  • In the taskbar, the additional settings popup- "Select a Sound Output" shows blank controls unlike before when I could actually switch between audio devices and control them.

What I have tried:

  1. Restarting the laptop
  2. Running Deployment Image Servicing and Management and System File Checker (SFC): both completed with no issues discovered
  3. Disabling and re-enabling both graphics cards
  4. Running the command: reg delete HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\IrisService /f
  5. Resetting and repairing Windows Settings
  6. Updating display drivers

I have unfortunately lost the necessary restore point to revert the system to a previous state. Could someone offer any insights or solutions? Thanks in advance!

1. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the graphics cards
2. A repair of the OS install.

It's possible that the update addressed an underlying issue that was causing the problem. If you're still experiencing issues with the Night Light feature, you may want to try resetting the feature to its default settings or checking for any software updates that may have been released since the update.
