Calendar events disappeared from taskbar in Windows 11 insider build
I am on the following windows build:
Edition Windows 11 Home Single Language
Version 21H2
Installed on 24/07/2021
OS build 22000.100
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 421.18901.0.3
In Windows 10, the taskbar calendar used to show events of the day. That has disappeared in Windows 11. Is there a way to enable this?
- BrakedirtBrass ContributorAt Microsoft, they employed a saboteur who destroys all useful functions and now they force people to waste time with unnecessary clicking to the point of unconsciousness.

It seems like the taskbar calendar events feature is missing in your Windows 11 build. Have you checked for any updates or settings that might help enable it? (link removed by admin)

johnronaldo66 thank you, the company pushes down whatever settings they see as appropriate so I don't have control over that
- pedrofimCopper ContributorI would like MS to bring this funcionality back!

Sorry but Microsoft has decided that it is in your best interest to not be able to view events in windows. **bleep** i hate this. So far I have not seen anything that makes windows 11 better than windows 10.
- abhigupta7554Copper ContributorI am also facing the same issue.

Wanted to confirm that the solution from @brc27 is the best one so far. It's the Calendar Flyout app in the Microsoft Store (https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9P2B3PLJXH3V) even if it does cost $1.70. But wanted to give a couple of tips if you go that route:
It does in fact only sync to your Windows Calendar, which initially shows only events from your microsoft account, but that's OK because you can sync your Windows Calendar to other accounts like Google or other Outlook/Office 365 accounts, and then those will show up on Calendar Flyout. I synced two separate business Office 365 calendars and my Google calendar this way. From the Windows Calendar app, click on hamburger (to show the sidebar) > Settings Icon > Manage Accounts > Add the accounts you want.
In my case, I did not want all my emails or contacts from these other accounts in the the Windows email app, just my calendars, so that Calendar Flyout could show them. And so I had to take another step to unsync the mail/contacts. Follow these instructions:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/sync-only-calendar-data-in-my-google-account-with/8e116386-541c-4fb9-b1d4-ed02a4783112FINAL STEP: To bring Calendar Flyout into the system tray so it's always visible, you need to pin it in your system tray. When the app runs, it's already in the system tray, but you need to exapnd the system tray, grab the Calendar Flyout icon, then drag it to the taskbar portion of the tray. Below is a GIF to demonstrate. Also, be sure your settings on Calendar Flyout are set to Run at Startup. You can also setup a keyboard shortcut in its settings.

@Everyone
The calendar works just fine in win 11. Pin to task bar for ease of use. change settings in Settings/Apps and the notifications appear in the bottom right corner as it does in previous versions.- Anthony_GuillenCopper Contributor
Kidsolo Yes, the notifications pop up, but the calendar events don't pop up under the calendar like they used to. See screenshot below from Windows 10. Sure, now you can pin the Calendar app to the taskbar, but clicking on it means the calendar app will launch and all that. Before, you could just click on the date/time in the tray and the day's agenda would show right there under the calendar.
This lost functionality is what this thread is about.
- kaurpaaroCopper ContributorAdd back te ability to view the days agenda to the taskbars calendar
- bcr27Copper Contributory'all are missing out on this app: https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9P2B3PLJXH3V i tried installing the free trial, works like a charm. you just have to link your account to the microsoft calendar like you always do and everything happens like clockwork. your events will be synced as it should be.
i have a hunch the one who created the app is a microsoft SE because the app feels and looks like an official microsoft product. i don't know how long the free trial is though but i will surely buy the app cuz its so cheap- Anton2170Copper ContributorCalendar Flyout

Yeah, this one looks like great!
Unfortunately, developer says it not works well with other calendar providers (e.g. google) in terms of sync, which is crucible for me 😞
Hope it will get fixed eventually - mtnairCopper ContributorIt's a shame that this has to come from a third-party developer, but this app is great!

kishorehari Just downgrade back to windows 10. Immediately I upgraded and saw the calendar was messed up, I reverted back. Not ready to deal with such a downgrade 😕

I believe decipline is the backbone of success. I depends on this calendar alot for my Business . Now it creating issues for my day planning.
- melceeCopper Contributor
Katherine_43It's a simple fix: download the free calendar app. It's the same as the one that used to be included with Windows 10, etc., and you can pin it to your taskbar. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/calendar/9wzdncrfjxkn?activetab=pivot:overviewtab
- coldweenCopper ContributorYes, it's possible to install 3rd party software, or open calendar on your smartphone, or even use paper-based old school to track all the stuff. But previously we had integrated way to quickly check ongoing events with just a single click on clocks, without the need to add another app to taskbar.
- javigerCopper ContributorThere's a workaround to this. At least it worked for my use case. Go to Date & Time settings - Date and time - Change date and time - Change calendar settings - Formats - Additional settings - Set the short hour to look like this HH:mm:ss. Apply and save. Go back to Additional clocks - Tick the show this watch option and now you have the time when you check your calendar in the task bar at the bottom right.
