Windows updating to 23H2

Copper Contributor

We have 2 laptops in the family. Same config, bought around the same time in June/ July 2023. One is installed with 2021 Office Home & Student version and another is installed with 2016 Office Home & Student version.  The one with 2021 Office has got updated to 23H2 automatically in due course. Another one with 2016 Office has not yet showed up that the laptop is eligible to update to 23H2. What should be done in the case of the laptop with 2016 Office to update to 23H2? Appreciate your advice.

Hi, you can download Windows11 Installation Assistant , 23H2,

This is safe and should help.

@A1 : Thanks for the prompt response. Your advice/ suggestion solved my issue. Thanks very much.
The update process for Windows operating system and Office suites are usually independent of each other. The fact that one laptop has been updated to Windows 23H2 does not necessarily imply that the other laptop with Office 2016 will automatically be eligible for the same update.

To ensure that the laptop with Office 2016 is updated to Windows 23H2, you can follow these steps:

1: Check for Windows updates: Go to Start Menu > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update. Click on "Check for updates" to see if any updates are available. If the 23H2 update is listed, proceed with the installation. If it is not listed, it means either the update has not been released for that device, or there could be some compatibility issues preventing the update.

2: Manually install Office updates: Open any Office application on the laptop with Office 2016, such as Word or Excel. In the application, go to the "File" tab and select "Account" or "Office Account" (the specific wording may vary depending on the version of Office). Look for an option to check for and install updates. If updates are available, follow the prompts to install them. Updated versions of Office might offer better compatibility with newer Windows versions.
