Windows 11 Update corrupted M.2

Copper Contributor

Hello There, I did a Windows 11 Update last night that once it was done it pushed me back into the BIOS, what I thought was strange but as I was tired I didn't think about it and just turned the PC off.

Woke Up this morning and it booted into the BIOS again when looking at it There was no longer my main M.2 What had windows on, only my other M.2 what has games on it. After trying to install Windows on the Second "Games" M.2. Is there away to fix the Windows 11 on my main M.2 what I assume got corrupted. before I start Installing Drivers and everything else on this machine?

I have tried resetting the cmos and no luck, I think my BIOS should roughly be up to date.

Many Thanks,

Daniel. Ash.

1.Reboot Your Computer
Sometimes, a simple reboot can fix problems after an update.
2. Check Hardware Connections
Reseat the M.2 Drive: Power off your computer, unplug it, and carefully reseat the M.2 drive to ensure it has a good connection.
Inspect for Damage: Look for any physical damage on the M.2 drive and the motherboard connector.
3. Enter BIOS/UEFI
Boot into your BIOS/UEFI settings and check if the M.2 drive is recognized.
Also, check your boot settings to ensure the drive is set as a boot option if necessary.
If you've created restore points before the update, you might be able to roll back to a previous state. Go to Advanced options > System Restore.

@Elliotinkunfortunately, I didnt have a restore point, So that is out.

Rebooting didnt fix it. Checked M.2 stuff still working perfectly fine just couldn't boot into Windows, Entered BIOS and it recognized it there but still no luck, What I done is Just reinstall windows on my other M.2 as I can access of the files and everything from the old windows install, That is what I am currently doing, bit long winded I must say,

Plan now is once I get everything backed up I am going to reformat both drives to delete everything and start fresh as its becoming a pain having 2 windows installed but only of them works when booting up the system with the WIndows Boot Manager.

But thank you for the advice.

1.Check the connections:

Ensure that the M.2 drive is properly inserted into the motherboard and is not loose.
2.Enter BIOS/UEFI:

Reboot the computer and enter BIOS/UEFI setup to verify that the M.2 drive is recognized by the system.
3.Use Windows Recovery Environment:

Try to enter the Windows Recovery Environment (Windows RE) to repair the system.
Press and hold F8 or F11 (depending on your device) at startup to access the recovery options.
4.Run a disk check:

In the recovery environment, you can use a command prompt to run the chkdsk command to check and repair disk errors. The command is:
chkdsk C: /f /r
5.Safe Mode Boot:

Try booting into Safe Mode to see if you can access the data on the M.2 drive.
Press F8 at startup to enter Safe Mode.
6.Check the driver:

In Safe Mode, check the Device Manager for the correct driver for the M.2 drive. If necessary, try updating or rolling back the driver.
7.Data Backup and Recovery:
If you are able to enter the system and access the M.2 drive, back up important data immediately.
