Windows 11 Refuses to Sleep Because of a 'Legacy USB Audio Driver' That Isn't Even Plugged In
My Windows 11 system refuses to enter sleep mode, and I keep receiving a message indicating that a legacy USB audio driver is preventing it from sleeping, even though I do not have any USB audio devices connected. Despite uninstalling or disabling the driver, the problem persists, and the system continuously wakes up or stays active, disrupting my workflow and power management. I am looking for advice on how to identify and resolve this issue, whether by permanently disabling the driver, updating drivers, or adjusting system settings to allow sleep mode to function correctly.

Hi Amirioh, I’d start by asking Windows exactly what is blocking sleep with powercfg /requests and what is allowed to wake the machine with powercfg /devicequery wake_armed. Also turn on hidden devices in Device Manager and remove old USB audio devices from there; once you know the exact driver name, you can update it, remove the stale driver package, or add a targeted power request override.
