Windows 11 Freezes on Screensaver

New Contributor

I have searched everywhere online but can't for the life of me find out what is causing my PC to lockup whilst on Screen Saver. It freezes totally and the only option is a hard reset.

There were a few posts while it was in developement and I had no issues with the insider builds.
The suggestions I saw were:
1. Change Screen Resolution, mine is at the recommended for my GPU and monitor.

2. Update Drivers, done.

3. Clear Temp Files, I run CCleaner which does it automatically.

4. Adjust Virtual Memory, done.

5. Run the following commands: SFC, CHKDSK, and DISM

6. Remove ASUS sonic sound, done.
7. I even completed a complete install.

Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 21H2
Installed on ‎7/‎10/‎2021
OS build 22000.282
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22000.282.0

My system specs:
AMD Ryzen 7 5800
ASUS X570 - E

ASUS 3080 GPU

ASUS XG32V Monitor

32 GB RAM Corsair 3600MHz

Use the OEM drivers from these sites:

GeForce RTX 3080 ->

https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/183364/en-us

X570 Chipset Drivers ->

https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/x570

Get the driver for your monitor here ->

https://rog.asus.com/support

I am generally on top of all my drivers, I had the latest NVIDIA, I will leave it on tonight and see if it is rectified.

@James Howden

If you have official OEM drivers in the list above, I would then check your power profile...

1.) Start -> Run -> Control -> Power Options -> Select: Balanced -> Change plan settings

1A.) Turn off the display -> Never (1B.) Put the computer to sleep -> Never

2.) Change Advanced Power settings ->

2A.) Hard disk -> Turn off hard disk after -> Setting (Minutes): 0

2B.) Desktop background settings -> Slide show -> Setting: Paused

2C.) Sleep -> Sleep After -> Setting: Never

2D.) Sleep -> Allow wake timers -> Setting: Disable

2E.) USB Settings -> USB selective suspend setting -> Setting: Disabled

2F.) Display -> Turn off display after -> Setting: Never

2G.) Multimedia settings -> When sharing media -> Setting: Prevent idling to sleep

3.) Start -> Run -> NCPA.CPL

3A.) Right Click on your Ethernet/Wireless adapter -> Properties -> Configure -> Power Management -> Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power", and all sub-options on that specific tab

I had done everything else previous bar the monitor and Chipset driver. Thanks a million @Mousefluff
