Enviro: Windows 11 early adopter with full public updates installed after hard reboot using Surface Laptop 3 device. Using an old Fujifilm digital camera for import of photos.
Repro:
1) Connect via USB cable, a digital camera to Win11 - Surface Laptop 3/Fujifilm XP60
2) Power on the camera, then select pop-up notice re: 'things to do with this device' > Import pictures to computer (not onedrive), custom location
3) Select an existent subfolder of the default. In this case C:\Users\mr_cr\OneDrive\Pictures\Saved Pictures
4) Import pictures, exit Photos App
5) Disconnect USB / Power off camera
6) With new pictures, again, connect via USB cable, a digital camera to Win11 - Surface Book 3
7) Power on the camera, then select pop-up notice re: 'things to do with this device' > Import pictures to computer (not onedrive)
Bug #1a: Observe the Import path. It points to the default still > 'C:\Users\mr_cr\OneDrive\Pictures'
Expected Results: Should reflect the last import path (aka MRU) > 'C:\Users\mr_cr\OneDrive\Pictures\Saved Pictures'
8) Select the incorrect labelled path link to change to the subfolder expected but not shown
Bug #1b: When the File Manager style dialog opens to choose a path, observe the path in which it begins > 'C:\Users\mr_cr\OneDrive\Pictures\Saved Pictures'. User *cannot* select desired subfolder, since it is, in fact, already selected.
Addl validations:
- Cancelling import folder selection after step 8 then importing results in photos placed in correct subfolder: C:\Users\mr_cr\OneDrive\Pictures\Saved Pictures
- After import, 'show recent items' in Photos 'viewer' UI reflects photos where expected. File Mgr confirms this.
- Further imports, not displaying the correct MRU, but *using* the MRU, continue to import files to the subfolder of the *active* MRU, against expectations given by 'Save path' shown in the PHOTO app.
This resulted in several scenarios that made a real mess when I hit filename collisions that would not have collided using the default folder, but did collide using the 'hidden' MRU folder...edging on dataloss.
