Will the Windows 11 24H2 Release Preview Automatically Transition to General Release?
Hello everyone, I need some clarity on this topic. I am planning to set up an extra machine, and I am interested in testing out Windows 11 24H2 without needing to reinstall or make any additional changes once it is officially released. I already have the most recent ISO from July 30th, courtesy of uupdump. If this is not possible, I will likely stick with version 23H2. Thank you!
- Based on recent releases, Version 24H2 may released somewhere between October-November, this year. No confirm dates available from Microsoft, as of this writing.

EdwardNelson in an attempt to answer your actual question, which it seems was not properly read - it has been my experience that as long as you DON’T try to get beyond the Release Preview (beta, dev, canary) - you should transition into the final release when it becomes available. So it sounds like you’ll be where you want to be.

Yes, the Windows 11 24H2 Release Preview is expected to automatically transition to the general release. Typically, Microsoft allows users in the Release Preview Channel to receive the final version of the upcoming Windows update without needing to take additional steps, assuming they have chosen to participate in this channel.
When the general release is made available, devices running the Release Preview will automatically upgrade to the stable version of the update. However, it's always a good practice to ensure that your system is backed up and to check for any specific announcements from Microsoft regarding release schedules or upgrade paths
