Why can't my workstation search the shared drive from the server?

My workstation is unable to perform any searches on a shared drive that is mapped from our server. When I try to search for files or folders using File Explorer on that specific network drive, the search either runs indefinitely without returning any results or immediately fails with an error, while local drives work perfectly fine.

The issue you're experiencing is common on Windows 11. By default, Windows Search does not index network drives or NAS devices. This design choice is intentional to improve system performance and reduce network traffic. Without indexing, a search must scan the entire drive in real-time, which can be slow or cause timeouts.
