Logitech camera Device Manager issue

Hi everyone,

I've noticed something slightly odd with my Logitech Brio 500 on Device Manager and wondered whether anyone could explain what's happening.

The Brio 500 works completely normally. It's listed under Device Manager, Cameras and the camera works without any problems. The driver shown for the working camera is:

Driver provider: Microsoft

Driver version: 10.0.26100.9444

Digitally signed by Microsoft Windows

However, I also have another Brio 500 entry under Other devices, which has a yellow warning symbol and shows Code 28 – The drivers for this device are not installed.

I tried uninstalling this Other devices, Brio 500 entry but after restarting my PC it simply comes back.

I'm wondering whether this is actually something I need to fix? The yellow triangle on device manager is annoying but the camera is working fine.

  • The Microsoft driver on the working camera is normal. The Brio 500 supports standard USB video, so it doesn’t need a Logitech-branded driver just to provide a picture.

A single USB camera can expose several separate interfaces to Windows. The entry under Other devices may be an additional interface that Windows hasn’t found a driver for, rather than a second or broken camera. Code 28 confirms a missing driver, but the name alone doesn’t tell us which function it belongs to. Uninstalling it won’t fix that—Windows detects the interface again when the device reconnects or the PC restarts.

    Try these steps:

    1. Unplug the Brio and check whether both entries disappear. That confirms the warning entry belongs to it.
    2. Reconnect it, then check Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates for a relevant Logitech driver.
    3. If nothing is offered, install or update Logi Tune from Logitech’s official website, which supports the Brio 500, and check for camera firmware updates. It may not resolve this particular interface, so don’t force an unrelated driver onto it.

If the warning remains, open that entry’s Properties > Details > Hardware Ids and give those IDs to Logitech support. They can identify the missing component much more reliably than the “Brio 500” label.

If video, microphone, and the controls you use all work, this isn’t an urgent repair. Leave the working Microsoft camera driver alone.

I've resolved the issue with your help, thanks!

I tried looking for optional updates but there were none. Unplugging the Brio removed the faulty entry but was still listed under Cameras.

I had Logi Hub installed so I removed that software and installed Logi Tune as you suggested and the faulty entry no longer shows in Device Manager. Thank you so much again!
