How can I restore the old-style file explorer interface?

Copper Contributor

I primarily use Linux on all my computers, but I have a few that are dual-booted with Windows 11. This way, I can provide clients with authentic PowerPoint pptx files rather than ones created in LibreOffice.

Recently, in preparation for a forthcoming PowerPoint presentation, I had to retrieve data files from a commercial backup service I rely on. However, when I checked File Explorer for the downloaded ZIP files in the usual location, they were not visible in the Gallery view. Instead, I had to conduct a *.zip search to locate them.

How can I revert back to the previous setup of File Explorer from several months ago?

Thank you,

Quick Access is a feature in Windows 11 that displays frequently used folders and files in File Explorer. Disabling it might help you get back to the classic view. To do this:

1. Press the Windows key + E to open File Explorer.
2. Click on the three horizontal lines () at the top right corner of the window.
3. Click on "View" and then toggle off "Quick access".
