Disk Usage Stuck at 100% with No Active Processes Visible
My Windows 11 computer frequently experiences an issue where the disk usage remains at 100 percent, but I do not see any active processes consuming resources in the Task Manager. This causes significant system slowdown and unresponsiveness, making it difficult to perform normal tasks. Despite checking for background processes, there are no obvious culprits or high disk activity visible, which makes it confusing and frustrating to identify the cause. The high disk usage persists even after a system restart, and it negatively impacts overall performance. I am looking for effective solutions or troubleshooting tips to resolve this issue permanently and restore normal disk activity without unnecessary system changes or software.

Hi Paulload, I’d start by checking Resource Monitor rather than Task Manager, because it often shows the actual file or service doing the disk work. Also check Windows Search indexing, SysMain, antivirus scans, drive health, and storage controller drivers. If this is an HDD, 100 percent active time can happen even with low throughput, especially if the disk is aging.
