Can I stop auto upgrade to Windows 11?

Brass Contributor

I found in the link

The link says, Today, we are thrilled to announce Windows 11 will start to become available on October 5, 2021. On this day, the free upgrade to Windows 11 will begin rolling out to eligible Windows 10 PCs and PCs that come pre-loaded with Windows 11 will start to become available for purchase.

Once it’s update will be available for my computer, can I stop upgrade of my Windows 10 computer?

Current version of my Windows 10 computer is 21H1.

The link and say, The end date of Version 21H1 is Dec 13, 2022.

As October 5, 2021 is very near. That’s why we can expect that 21H1 will be the last version of Windows 10.

If I can stop upgrade to Windows 11, can I get all updates of Windows 10 till Dec 13, 2021?

With Regards

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

"ProductVersion"="Windows 10"

Windows 11 will be optional upgrade

Windows 10 version 21H2 is coming in October too

@abbodi1406 thank you for replying.

Using TargetReleaseVersion, TargetReleaseVersionInfo and ProductVersion, I can stop upgrade to Windows 11.

1. As you said, Windows 10 version 21H2 is coming in October, proactively can I set TargetReleaseVersionInfo as "21H2" proactively?

2. Later on, if I plan for upgrade to Windows 11, what I need to do?
Do I need to write another script for Windows 11?
Can I edit or delete script saved for Windows 10?

I want to reassure you you don't have to do anything!
Your Windows10 will automatically update until 2025.
You will have to agree to the new Version!
You will definitely not wake up in the morning with the new Windows11
Best regards

1- Yes
2- Just remove the added registry values

I found some information on this but I could not confirm that I can use the Buildnumber (e.g. 19042 or 19043) as the TargetReleaseVersionInfo value instead of the Versionstring 21H1,21H2 etc.

Do you have any information on this?

use the release version, not build number
