How to Lock Desktop Icons in Position

Hello,

I need assistance in figuring out how to keep my desktop icons stationary. Although I believe I have set them to stay in their designated positions, occasionally they seem to rearrange themselves randomly. I am currently using the Windows 11 operating system.

Still in the "View" menu, ensure the "Align icons to grid" option is checked. This helps keep your icons organized in a grid format, preventing them from overlapping or disordering.

apparently the icons in the desktop wont stay put or scatter arorund after arranging them no matter what you do, unless you're using a created theme, if you're using a not saved theme in your pc then the items wont stay put, so just create a theme, add a wallpaper and color and whatever, then save it and use it and you should be fine

After installing Win 11 update 24H2 on Dec 13, I have this problem, auto arrange was not set on.  I have turned it on, rebooted, turned it off rebooted, rearranged my icons and rebooted and still they are all shoved to the bottom of my screen

If "Auto arrange icons" is checked, click on it to uncheck it. This will prevent Windows from automatically rearranging your icons.

Fencse software allows you to organize your desktop icons into "fencse" that can be locked in place, thus helping you keep your desktop organized.

Right-click on an empty area of your desktop.Hover over View in the context menu that appears. And make sure the Auto arrange icons option is unchecked. If it's checked, click on it to disable.

    Use Desktop Icon Arrangement:

Right-click on an empty space on your desktop.
Hover over "View" in the context menu.
Ensure that "Auto arrange icons" is unchecked. This stops Windows from automatically rearranging icons.
Additionally, you can also disable "Align icons to grid" if you want more control over icon placement.

You can use the Settings App

1.Press the Windows key + I to open the Settings app.
2.Click on "Personalization" from the left menu.
3.Select "Themes" from the right menu.
4.Click on "Desktop icon settings" from the right menu.
5.Uncheck the box next to "Auto-arrange icons" to disable automatic icon rearrangement.
