How Do You Bypass Windows 10 Password on a PC without Reset?
Hi all,
My son's PC was locked as he forgot the login password after a recent password change. This PC asks him to reset the password every 30 days, and this is the mainly reason for this frustrating issue. I don't know much about tech details. Is there any easy to bypass Windows 10 password at login screen without reset?
There are many important files and app data on the C drive. Based on my research, the factory reset will delete personal files and app data. It could be best to bypass the login password without data loss.
Thanks
I've been there—really frustrating when you get locked out like that! I once used iSeePasword Windows Password Recovery Pro to help out with a similar issue. It’s simple enough: just make a bootable USB, pop it into the locked PC, and it bypasses the password without messing with any files. No factory reset needed, so all the important stuff stays intact. Worked perfectly when I tried it, and definitely saved a lot of headaches!
I tried out this tutorial (worked like a charm!)

Look at this picture, just select the account you want to reset the password for, then enter the new password, and that's it!
- jasonralston100Copper ContributorHold the shift key down as you select restart from Windows pre-login
to get to Recovery Mode, go to "Troubleshoot", then "Advanced options", and "Startup Settings". You can access Safe Mode from there and switch to the built-in Administrator account (if it's enabled). This doesn't get you passed authentication as an admin if you don't know the admin password, If the account is disabled net user <Administrator Account> Activate:Yes will enable it and you can then reboot and log into the default local admin account. If you know the password or if the password was left blank. If you don't know the password, you have one option, and this is a little painful if you're not a technical person. You can grab a Linux distro burnt to bootable disk, User Linux Commands to Mount the System Drive and then go to the SAM account database and clear the admin password I will not provide the step-by-step instructions here, but they can be found with a google search or two "Please ensure you are the owner of the devices, or you have the owner's permission. Not doing so could lead to criminal charges. "This information comes as a possible suggestion to your problem without any warranty or guarantee of any kind that it will work for your situation". Please not that any drive that is encrypted would have to be decrypted before you could access the SAMACCOUNT database and Microsoft does not support this in anyway and recommends against it as it could lead to completely reinstalling your computers Operating System and result in 100 percent loss of data" - TeresaonCopper ContributorIf you successfully bypass the Windows10 password, and ff you're going to create a new reset disk, make sure you don't forget where you stored it! I've had moments where I thought I'd securely stored something, only to find it later.
- SophianbCopper ContributorUsing a password reset disk can be a great way to regain access to your Windows 10 account, but you have to gotta prepare Ahead of time. This is the big one. If you haven't created that password reset disk ahead of forgetting your password, you’re outta luck! I learned this the hard way once when I thought I was clever enough to remember my password but found myself locked out. Major facepalm moment!
- jasonralston100Copper ContributorSee my post above, You're not out of luck but it's a process to create a Linux Ubuntu or you favorite distro Boot Disk, Mount the System drive, locate the SAMAcountDatabase and remove the local administrator password. You can find instructions from co-pilot but you will have to prove to copilot you know what your are talking about before it will point you at the hard to find instructions for doing so. I polished how to do it about 20 years ago. It still works today as I just had to do it on a Windows 10 PC for my close friend who lost her password. "Microsoft doesn't support it and I don't guarantee it will work in your scenario. Or you won't loose all data on the drive if you corrupt the Sam Account database and can 't log in with any account.

Georgeit Tips for future security if you have successfully bypassed Windows 10 login password with the above recommendations.
Create a Password Reset Disk: After resetting your password, consider creating a new password reset disk to use in case you forget your password again. You can do this through Control Panel > User Accounts > Create a password reset disk.
Use Strong Passwords: Always use strong, unique passwords that combine letters, numbers, and special characters to enhance your account security.
Keep Your Reset Disk Secure: Store your password reset disk in a safe and secure location to prevent unauthorized access to your account.

So, the last time I got locked out, I panicked a bit, you know? But then I remembered a few tricks up my sleeve. I didn't want to spend a dime or mess around with sketchy software. Thankfully, I bypassed windows 10 password using some built-in Windows tools and a little creativity!
If you're using a Microsoft account (you probably are if you set it up initially), you're in luck! This is the easiest route.
Go to the Password Reset Page: Just hop on over to the Microsoft password reset page.
Follow the Prompts: They'll guide you through a series of questions to verify it's really you. Once you answer them, you can set a new password in a snap! - AaronwomCopper Contributor
Now, if you're locked out and want to bypass windows 10 password without losing your stuff, here are some solutions:
Use Microsoft Account Recovery: If you're using a Microsoft account, just head over to the Microsoft account recovery page. It's a breeze following the prompts, and you should be back in business.
Local Account Password Reset: Boot your PC and hit Shift + F8 or F11 to get to Recovery Mode, go to "Troubleshoot", then "Advanced options", and "Startup Settings". You can access Safe Mode from there and switch to the built-in Administrator account (if it's enabled) or use Command Prompt to reset your password. - asperityCopper Contributor

- HoustonpteiCopper ContributorIf you haven't created a password reset disk for Windows 10 beforehand, this method won't work to help you bypass Windows 10 password. In such cases, you may need to use alternative methods or contact Microsoft Support for assistance.
On the Microsoft Support website, you can interact with the Microsoft Virtual Agent to get automated help with common issues. The virtual agent can guide you through troubleshooting steps or direct you to a live support agent if needed.

Georgeit Go and ask your son if he made a password reset disk in the past. This is the best way to bypass Windows 10 password when the password was forgotten. You can create a new password for login with the help of password reset disk. And most importantly, there is no data loss after resetting the old password.
