Can a USB-C dock reduce SSD transfer speeds?

Using a USB-C dock can indeed reduce SSD transfer speeds, as the dock shares a single upstream connection between multiple ports and functions, potentially limiting the available bandwidth for data transfer. This is especially noticeable with high-performance NVMe SSDs, which may be bottlenecked by the dock's internal hub or if the dock uses an older USB-C standard like USB 3.0 rather than Thunderbolt or USB4.

    When you connect a high-performance NVMe SSD that can read/write at 3,000+ MB/s (which is roughly 24 Gbps), it can easily saturate a standard 10 Gbps dock all by itself.

    i think a usb dock can actually lowers down ssd speeds when multiple devices share the same pattern upstream . it can be noticed with nvme ssd, cwe can check the dock usb standar and using a direct transfer that help increases the speed
