SCCM On Domain Controllers
We have 40+ domain controllers and have been reluctant to use SCCM for managing their monthly Windows Updates. Our security team points out that since SCCM runs under the SYSTEM account, the SCCM team could run scripts to create a user and elevate that user's privileges fairly easily. Question: Is there a way in SCCM to separate these domain controllers and control who can manage them? We would like only the domain admins to have access to these domain controllers. ThanksSolvedLAPs UI and PS Commands Between Domains
I have a two-way trust between domains. We discovered the LAPSs UI and Powershell commands don't work between domains. 1. Permissions are correctly set for admins in Domain A to see the ms-Mcs-AdmPwd attibute in Domain B, and verified by ADUC and PS commands using the ActiveDirectory module. 2. The LAPs UI won't return the password, but sees the password expiration date. 3. The Powershell commands using the AdmPwd.ps module don't return the password, only the expiration date. 4. I turned on auditing to eventlogs in the Registry and don't see any entries which could solve this issue. Please advise. ThanksRe: Powershell Declaring XML in ModuleBase
Harm_Veenstra Thanks for the information. The XML file with those settings was created in the module's folder. The question regards how to declare the PSWUSettings.xml in the Powershell command line. Here is the error message I received. Install-WindowsUpdate : Missing SmtpServer; Use -PSWUSettings or declare PSWUSettings.xml in ModuleBase path. I am automating Windows Updates on remote servers. I am using the PSWindowsUpdate module to make the updates. My question is regarding this error: Install-WindowsUpdate : Missing SmtpServer; Use -PSWUSettings or declare PSWUSettings.xml in ModuleBase path. I created the required PSWUSettings.xml file in the "C:\Program Files\WindowsPowerShell\Modules\PSWindowsUpdate" folder but I can't get the Install-WindowsUpate command to use it. My question is then how do I 'declare' the PSWUSettings.xml file for the Install WindowsUpdate command to reference? I would like to manage my core Windows 2016 domain controllers using Windows Admin Center. As I can't install WAC on a domain controller, I must use my PC or a nearby server. My question is whether I am exposing my domain admin credentials accessing these core domain controllers while using WAC? How is the password protected and disposed of after my WAC session ends? Thanks for your advice.Solved3.5KViews0likes5Comments
