Universal Print printer preferences issue

Hi,

I have a client who has an issue with a Canon C165M and is using Universal Print.

The issue is that the print queue will only print out double sided regardless if they go into the printer preferences and select double sided - off or uncheck double sided.

I've created a new print queue and set double sided - off and deployed it via Universal Print and they can print single sided fine but they don't want to have a separate print queue to do this, they want to change the printer preferences themselves for the existing print queue.

It seems like your client is experiencing an issue with printer preferences when using a Canon C165M with Universal Print. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

    1. Check driver settings: Ensure that the printer driver installed on the client's computer is up to date. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause printing preferences to not work as expected. Visit the Canon website to download and install the latest driver for the Canon C165M.

    2. Verify Universal Print settings: Double-check the settings in the Universal Print portal to ensure that the correct preferences, such as double-sided printing, are configured according to the client's preferences.

    3. Reset printer preferences: In some cases, printer preferences can get stuck or corrupted. Try resetting the printer preferences to default settings. This can usually be done through the printer properties or settings menu on the client's computer.

    4. Test with different applications: Have the client test printing from different applications to see if the issue is specific to one program. Sometimes application-specific settings can override printer preferences. You might consider checking out https://printtester.com/.

    5. Contact Canon support: If the issue persists, reach out to Canon support for further assistance. They may have specific troubleshooting steps or https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART177126 that can address the problem.

By following these steps, you can help your client troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue with printer preferences.

  • raymondbelton - is this a Universal Print ready printer or are you using connector?

If Canon offers Universal Print ready support for this printer model, then please register the printer directly without connector.

If its a connector, you may try changing to a different Canon printer driver on the connector - typically for most printers their OEM provided global/universal drivers work better. If you continue to face issues, please open a support case with Microsoft Support (via the Help and Support link on Universal Print admin portal).
