Touchback lag

Copper Contributor

I connect a PC to surface hub 2s devices. I use either USB-C or HDMI+USB-A combination in order to enable a touchback. I also have a mouse connected to the PC.

If I switch surface hub to USB-C or HDMI input channel then there is no lag in sending image to the surface hub screen. I move a mouse pointer and I can see no delay.  However, touchback doesn't work.

Then I switch hub back to Windows and run a Connect app to see the signal from the PC. It allows me to enable touch functionality. Unfortunately, there is a visible lag in processing touches. And even if I move a mouse I can see a visible delay in the movement of a mouse pointer.

What does Connect app do to the video signal? Does it render it in some way? Where does this lag come from on the cable connection? Is there any way to improve it?

Thanks

Hello@hdd-12,

There should be no lag when using a cable on the Surface Hub. Please make sure you have a reliable USB-C to USB-C cable and no adapters that might cause the delay. Also, we recommend that if you use both HDMI and USB-C cables, connect the HDMI cable first so that the video projection is established on this and USB-C is used for Touchback/Inkback. However, it should also work fine just over USB-C.

Also note that Touchback/Inkback will work on the PC input as HDMI or USB-C video inputs don't support this feature.

Please take a look at this article and if the issue still persists, kindly open a support ticket here.
