Touchback not working with USB-C display (Surface Hub 2S)
We just got two Surface Hub 2S at work, but I've been unable to make touch-back work on a single USB-C cable. In theory, it's supposed to deliver power, 4K display, and touch-back (pen included) through a single USB-C 3.1 Gen-2 cable, and yet so far I've tried: Two different and brand new USB-C cables (relatively premium, 3.1 Gen 2 spec) Two different devices (Surface Pro 7 on USB-C, and Lenovo t490s on both USB-C and Thunderbolt3 ports) And yet, I'm always getting Power + 4K@60Hz display, but no touchback (nor pen). If I connect through Miracast and plug the USB-C I can get both display and touch-back, but resolution is dismal and Miracast lag makes it hard to enjoy the "touch-pen" experience. Is there anything I'm missing? Any idea or advice? Thanks in advance, Daniel PS: Both computers detect a "Guest Touchback Board" input device, which shows in Device Settings, and both of them recognize the Surface Hub 2s as some kind of Touch panel with "limited functionality"dgr4itOct 23, 2024Iron Contributor6.7KViews1like22CommentsSurface Hub 2s touch recognized but not working on external NUC PC
Hi, I am trying to connect an Intel NUC as external PC to a Surface Hub 2S 85". It is connected via HDMI cable for video/audio and USBC - USBC cable (connected to built-in surface PC, next to hdmi port). The NUC runs on Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC. The NUC recognizes the Surface HUB screen and Guest Touchback board HID device (see screenshot below), but i can't get the touch working on the NUC. Touch works on the built-in device so it's not a hardware issue. Any ideas or help would by highly appreciated! Thank you!timcartonOct 17, 2024Copper Contributor1.1KViews0likes2CommentsNo TouchBack support on Surface Hub 3 85" with USB-C/TB4 cables and up-to-date drivers
Hello, Important linked thread which ended-up concluding Touchback is not supported for Surface Hub 3 85" here. Cross-posting from here. I've been trying to setup touchback/inkback support several times on a Surface Hub 3 85". I'm doing everything as told in the Connect Devices guide or this other useful guide (for the Hub 2S, but I ordered a Hub 3 which has just a more beefy compute cartridge) from a Windows 11 Pro laptop 23H2 build I've updated the drivers on the host PC, installed Surface Hub Replacement PC Drivers, that is connected to the Hub via the USB-C port below, on the compute cartridge, with either a USB-C standard cable or thunderbolt TB 4 cable. Display passes through correctly, device appears in device manager (HID compliant touchscreen etc), drivers were installed automatically and also updated with Snappy Driver Installer Origin SDIO. There is no button switch like on the older 1 hub to alternate between Guest/replacement mode and standard hub. I also tried the configuration where the display/AV was passing through HDMI/Display-port and additional usb-c cable connected for devices, but this is not supported either - was again detected as a display, which I de-activated to try to give priority to device passthrough. I've read several comments on internet like this one or this one which have faced the same problem, but no official statement from microsoft stating that Touchback is not supported on the Surface Hub 3 85". Would love some insights. Best regards, Jonathanjo-chemlaOct 17, 2024Copper Contributor143Views0likes0CommentsSurface Hub S2 does not start recovery mode - what to do?
Hi everyone! We have our Surface Hub S2 in our meeting room, but after a power outage, the Hub won't boot anymore. It only comes up with the white Windows Logo and black background in an infinite loop. So, I just accepted, that I have to factory reset the device. But I am not able to boot from any USB stick. I can enter the UEFI Setup and i can update the configuration via USB stick. But when I try to start via "volume down" and power button, no recovery mode is entered. I tried all 3 USB-C slots and the USB A slot, made bootup sticks with the windows recovery tool and also with the surface IT toolkit. None worked. Am I doing something wrong? Is there another way to enter the recovery mode or alter the booting? Thanks, TimTimHoelskenSep 17, 2024Copper Contributor446Views0likes4CommentsHP print drivers
Hello I just bought a brand new surface 11th edition. And I am trying to download the printer drivers but my surface is throwing missing plug play or inf errors. I had hp printer support try to help me but it seems not to work on the surface end as all my other computers connect fine. 2/3 surfaces that work out of that office cannot print to the laser jet 4301 fdw printer why? Heres what I know... Surface 11 runs on a AWD processor. So i tried the universal AWD installer but nothing general installers say the surface doesnt have the plug play installed and another universal installer said that it doesnt have the correct infsCaylanWilcoxSep 16, 2024Copper Contributor197Views0likes0CommentsFree the original Surface Hub
My Surface Hub is at home, work near perfectly after 8 years. But, because of that device will be out of support quickly, Is someone at Microsoft who think to free up the bootcode in order to install another Windows OS like Windows 10 or maybe just convert Windows Team edition to a full Windows 10 Pro ? I thik there is a lot of device that could have a second life 🙂sbenoistSep 12, 2024Copper Contributor340Views0likes3CommentsSurface hub 3 MTR wallpaper with Intune
I'm attempting to manage the wallpaper for Surface Hub 3 MTR devices through Intune, but the official Microsoft documentation hasn't been very helpful. While the XML configuration is mentioned, I keep encountering issues with it. I'm using the following XML configuration, with the image hosted in a public Azure storage via URL. What could I be doing wrong? If anyone has insights or suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it. Going through the steps provided to migrate Surface Hub 2s to Windows 10 Pro at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/surface-hub/surface-hub-2s-migrate-os#prepare-the-semm-certificate Getting hung up with Surface UEFI Configurator doing absolutely nothing after clicking BUILD. USB drive selected is not formatted as the tool says, and no DFI files are created on the USB stick either. Rebooted, tried many times with the same result - nothing happens. No DFI files found on the entire system either. I've had no problems using the SurfaceDeploymentAccelerator -https://github.com/microsoft/SurfaceDeploymentAccelerator/blob/master/README.mdto create images, but assuming I NEED to have the UEFI & SEMM stuff figured out in order to use the Windows 10 Pro image created with SDA. Any help?ADoranSep 03, 2024Copper Contributor21KViews0likes5CommentsSurface V1 - Something Went Wrong...
Hi, Yes, I know, running soon out of the support. But still like to ask. Anybody have experience that device start normally, but when icons below time should appears, there is only a text: "Something went wrong Please contact your support person." Admin center says, it is healthy. I can even see device on as "away" on Teams client, and when make the P2P call to device that looks like it is ringing as, when I end the call I can here "blink" from it. Just got the logs from the device to my wks, anything special to look at from there?Petri-XAug 30, 2024Bronze Contributor183Views0likes0CommentsMigrated Surface Hub 2S to MTRoW - 3 things I don’t like
Hello! I recently migrated our 85” Surface Hub 2S from Windows 10 Team OS to MTRoW Experience. The process was simple and relatively quick. After getting everything dialed in, here is what I wish the new OS still retained: 1. No more apps. Specifically no browser. Previously, staff would launch Edge and display reports from the various software we subscribe to. Now, I know what most are thinking - why don’t you just cast to the device to achieve the same outcome? 2. Miracast no longer supported - no longer can users Windows + K and share the contents of their device. One workaround I found is to switch user and sign in as admin > launch screen share > alt tab back to Teams Room app. But this isn’t permanent and staff expect to just Windows + K like they have been on Windows 10 Team OS. 3. Casting from Teams - I do have the option to cast from the Teams app on my laptop to the Surface Hub. But this experience is abysmal. Content shared this way has been very choppy and delayed. This method holds true on the Surface Hub, a separate MTRoW device, and our MTRoA device.itsXtripAug 30, 2024Copper Contributor4.2KViews2likes23Comments
