Term Store Descriptions not displaying

When editing document properties and selecting a term from a managed metadata column that has descriptions set up in the Term Store, the description does not show in modern view, but is still available in the classic view.  Is there somewhere else that it shows?  Or has this feature been removed from modern SharePoint?
