SharePoint Server 2016 User Profile Synchronization Connection Missing

Hi

To be honest it just appears missing as I can see that a number of profiles are synchronised each day.

Without being able to view the connection, I can't  view OU which was selected in the original configuration.

I have worked extensively with SharePoint 2013 and this issue was typically resolve by restarting  the usual suspects aka the 2 x  Forefront Identity Manager (FIM) services.  Of course, with SharePoint 2016 these  are no longer in play. So what should be resetting or swearing at (!) ,  in their place?

As aside, I initially thought the  managed account for AD Sync may be different to the one in AD which if this was the case I could fix with:

Set-SPManagedAccount -idenity domain\MysyncUser -UseExisitingPassword

However, I am not so sure this I the case as there is a successful sync each night.

  • AD Import is driven by a timer job and not a service. What exactly is the problem, though? I don't quite understand :-) Is there a reason you cannot see the selected OUs in your Sync Connection? Or are you using MIM instead of AD Import?

      Hi Trevor

       AD import  is configured

My previous  experience is with UPA in SharePoint 2013 and those 'evil' FIM services!.  Anyway, I go to view the User Profile Synchronisation Connection  but it isn't listed so I can't refresh the container.

On the dev farm I can see a connection is listed.

If there is nothing obvious then I will need to spend time trawling through ULS Logs and events but I figure there is simple explanation to this issue; given the UPA is working.
