SharePoint Server 2016 User Profile Synchronization Connection Missing
Hi Trevor
AD import is configured
My previous experience is with UPA in SharePoint 2013 and those 'evil' FIM services!. Anyway, I go to view the User Profile Synchronisation Connection but it isn't listed so I can't refresh the container.
On the dev farm I can see a connection is listed.
If there is nothing obvious then I will need to spend time trawling through ULS Logs and events but I figure there is simple explanation to this issue; given the UPA is working.

Are you sure, as the import does appear to work from a limited number of users ( test OU)?
I would have agreed with you but previous experience has made me sceptical - there must be a 'connection' as otherwise I wouldn't see any profiles listed. Therefore, it could be permissions ( even though I am farm admin) or something not correctly configured. The farm is generally quite healthy.

Ah yes, I remember the TechNet articles on this a while back. I have recently inherited this farm so this step must have been missed in the original build. I will create the connection shortly.
One thing to note, is the farm in its present state working well for the few pilot users we have on there.
So without the User Profile synchronization connection I assume: you don't get the extended AD attributes appearing in SharePoint; nor could I configure hybrid profiles when this is capability is required.
