Sharepoint online search not encoding "&&" while navigating to custom search result's page

Hi,

i'm having a custom search results page when i enter a keyword with special character it is not encoding and i'm not getting the expected result's i.e. the special character in url. i.e. c++ is showing up \customsearchpage.aspx?q=c++&k=c++

if i suppose enter j&j it is showing up as \customsearchpage.aspx?q=j&j&k=j&j rather than j%26j
