Move/Copy SharePoint Pages from one Site to Another in Classic View
Hi everyone, I've recently been tasked with moving site pages from one site to another. I've read how you could use Classic view to do this. I'm a SharePoint administrator for our company and have made myself admin of the two sites I'm working with.
Problem is, whenever I try to move/copy pages across and put the URL in, it always says I don't have right access for it and would need to request permission from the site owners (me essentially) and no matter how many times I approve myself it just keeps looping me back to the same problem.
Does anyone know what's causing this or what I'm doing wrong?
Corbenik you can also copy pages, including any images on them, to a different site using a simple flow in Power Automate:

Corbenik I found this post while researching my own issue. I couldn't find instructions for copying pages in Classic. For those that don't want to go the Automate route, I'm including the Classic steps.
As for the error messsage, as an SCA, I too received the error you described and my resolution was to add my account to the Owners group on the destination site (my account was only listed as a SCA).
1. Go to the Site Pages library.
2. Click Return to Classic SharePoint.
3. Click the File tab in the ribbon. Select the checkbox of the page to copy. Click Send to and then select Copy.
4. Enter the link of the destination site’s Site Pages library. Rename the page (optional). Click Ok.
5. In the Copy dialog, click Ok.
6. Close the Copy dialog box.
7. The copied file will appear in the target library. For screenshots and additional information read this.
- NinaGeloCopper ContributorThank you for all these suggestions. I have tried just about all of them but cannot seem to get the contents of the Site Pages to carry over into the destination library. The file is copied, but when I open the page from the destination library, there is only the title and none of the content. I have tried the Power Automate solutions and the Copy solution within the ribbon in the Classic View. Any ideas?

NinaGelo See my earlier post. The original Power Automates are no longer valid, if you adapt your Power Automate to the Print Screen ive posted on June 6th you should be able to copy the pages and assets of you wish.

Welcome to the forums. There is a difference between the site owners group and site collection administration. Do you know which one you are?
And can you also provide some information on how you've attempted to copy the files thus far please? I'm guessing you're trying Explorer View in Classic as Copy / move functionality, the last I checked didn't work through the modern interface for site pages.

Steven Andrews I'm the site collection admin. I switched to the classic view as I heard (and saw) that there was no way to do this with the modern interface
On clicking that copy command I get taken to the copy prompt and after filling in the necessary details like the destination URL and clicking ok :
It would ask me to request permission, and even if go through with that and then grant myself permission (which is strange as I'm already the site collection admin for both source and destination sites), when I try to copy again it says I need permission again.

- JWLehmanCopper ContributorSome great responses, but it strikes me as strange that for such a simple task, that Power Automate is required. I use SharePoint Designer and do a simple copy and paste, but my employer will very likely remove SharePoint Designer from our toolbox soon.
- MasatoIndouCopper ContributorI'm really happy that this post and more importantly the answers from Rob and the others have been very useful to the community. Still wish there was a way to do this natively without having to rely on 3rd party tools or power automate 🙂

Hi Corbenik this thread has a few years but there is an alternative developed by Torpedo that will do the job. It has 3 day free trial and you just need a few clicks to copy or move the page to another site/web. Give it a check at Copy page to site extension

Hi, this thread might have a few years but Sharepoint doesn't develop fast so most likely this is still very much a valid topic. Regarding using some extention you would have to leave your private details for, and have to pay for: I'd hope that everyone reading this can see that, doing this with Power Automate is not hard, and you shouldn't pay for a simple solution.

Reddimension You know that you can simply go to the Sharepoint Store and add it without adding any private information and still have 3 days to do the work and try the extension for FREE.
