Image Gallery and portrait-images in modern site pages

Copper Contributor

Is there any way to change settings of Image Gallery in modern site pages so it display portrait oriented images correctly? Right now in both "carousel" and "tiles" layout the top and bottom of the portrait-image is cut off.  The only way to sort of fix it is to use 1:1 ratio in "tiles" layout. "Carousel" layout is useless for portrait-images making images look extremely awkward especially with people in them.screenshot.png

Thanks.

You are missing renditions maybe they will come later i guess.

Yes, this is really stupid, seeing your uploaded images been cut off! Why do you do this Microsoft???

Microsoft says:
In SharePoint, an image is automatically scaled and cropped to deliver the most readable view. On any device...
It has a very modern and progressive approach to deliver pages to-scale. When your technology is on the left side of this continuum, you have great control over the design and each element, but you run into issues with legibility when accessing the page from a undefined size.

So they want you to take only pictures their way:
If you set-up your focal points correctly, you can be confident that the important part of the image is always going to be in view, regardless of how the page is framed-up.

Well, a picture taken can have many focal points
A picture tells a story, a picture has a mood, a horizon
You cannot cut everything off just for technical reasons...

And besides, whatsapp, facebook, google images or any other app handles images quite correctly on all devices

I think this is brain deformation of some technical guys at MS
It kills the uploaded image
