Communication site - cannot delete

Im the global admin and also listed as a site owner. I can get to the delete site settings and click the button but it then tells me I dont have access. Anyone else seen this issue?

It's working as expected for me...open a support ticket so Microsoft can evaluate if something is wrong in your tenant

Check that you are also a site collection administrator for the associated collection.

Support ended up running the delete site through powershell to get it to work. They had no answer as to why it failed in the first place.
