Access rights to viewing a video in a Sharepoint Site
- Apr 20, 2023
Hello Ronald_Santos
ok, now it's more cleare. When it's a iframe, then the user need access to the stream video, i know, it's a little bit complicated to understand, so it's easier to use the new Stream (on SharePoint). It's the new way to manage videos in your company and the old service are retired.
More informations around Stream (on SharePoint) and about the migration from the old classic Stream: https://learn.microsoft.com/de-de/stream/streamnew/features-new-version-stream
When you save your video in a SharePoint library, you can use the "File and Media" web part to show your video.
Hope this helps.
Best, Dave
This is very helpful and solved my problem! Thank-you!
DaveMehr365 Dear David, sorry. I have to reopen this issue. People are still having problems accessing the video. This even when I put the video in the Sharepoint site and used the web part that you recommended. As you can see, from image all access rights seem to be in order. Thanks so much

Hello Ronald_Santos
are the video stored on the same site? Have the users access direct to the video in the library? Or what kind of troubles they have?
Best, Dave
- Ronald_SantosApr 27, 2023Copper ContributorI figured it out. I know this might be obvious to 365 veterans, but it was not to me. I have to make sure and tell external users that they have to verify that they are logged in to a MS account on the browser where they are accessing the Sharepoint site. I think a lot of people assume that just because they are logged in to the desktop version of whatever Office 365 app they are using, access rights extend to the browser. To be honest, I don't think that MS does a good job in explaining the interaction between Offic365 desktop apps and using the browser versions. Thanks for trying to help me.

Hello! I was logged in to my ms account on my browser but still share the same issue; The video is on my colleaugues "sharepoint" file. The sharepoint file is accessible through her desktop => anyone with access to the site has access to the sharepoint file she has as I can access all the documents and videos. Neverthless, when she shared the video that is very much available on sharepoint on the main page of the platform it still gives an error.
other users are facing the same issue.
Best Regards,
