We’re excited to share that the new Planner app in Microsoft Teams is now available to our customers in the Microsoft GCC-M environment! There is no migration necessary; all your tasks, basic plans, and premium plans (formerly projects) are already available in the new Planner.

You can learn more about the new Planner in our previous announcement. Your feedback helps us prioritize what to build! Share it with us via the Planner Feedback Portal.

Getting started

Open Planner in Teams. You can also find the Planner app in the App browser. Start by selecting the View more apps” menu in the navigation bar. Then, select the Add button next to the Planner icon.

Once you’ve added Planner, you can pin the app (select Pin) to the left side of Teams for easy access.

Differences for customers in GCC-M

A few features are not available to customers in GCC-M. These include:

  • Microsoft 365 Copilot in Planner,
  • tasks assigned to you in premium plans will not show up in the My Tasks view,
  • the ability to convert a basic plan to a premium plan, and
  • task history.

I'm not sure what GCC-M means.  I have Teams.

When I click on the three dots. I just get the old planner app, which is devoid of any useful features.

I don't want to use Project, as my needs are fairly simple, but Planner seems like the "Microsoft Paint" of planning tools.  I literally just need to be able to set up and assign sub tasks within a task and have some tasks roll up to milestones or a higher level.  That's it...   But, regular planner doesn't seem to have the ability to add sub-tasks which seems crazy.

I'm also confused as it seems as New Planner should be included in my Office 365 subscription, but I when I hear terms like 'premium plans' it echoes that I have to pay extra for something.  I can't find any good info anywhere that explains it all.

Great news! Two questions: when will the new planner be available outside of teams and when will we be able to import premium plans in Loop?
