In MS365, a document linked in Meeting Insight opened a different file
Hi Everyone,
I ran into a problem this morning. When I checked a calendar meeting this morning and clicked on the document link in the Meeting Insights section, a different file opened. I was using the Android Outlook APP. When I tried it a 2nd time, the correct file opened.
I am a sys admin and discovered I somehow have access to the documentβs OneDrive folder, which is getting modified. Unfortunately, the document that was opened was highly confidential, and we are lucky it happened to me as a confidential employee.
Has anyone seen or heard of this happening? Any ideas on how this could occur or be fixed so it doesn't happen again? I know we can disable the Viva Insight Outlook Add-in organization-wide but Iβm looking for a less drastic fix, if possible.
Thanks for any help or ideas.

Hello vclark1966,
here is Ahmed, let me try to help you π
The reasons for such issues are not so clear as this is not a known/expected issue
Possible reasons might be:
- The add-in is not enabled or installed properly.
- The add-in is not compatible with your Outlook version or platform.
- The add-in is experiencing a temporary glitch or bug.
To troubleshoot and resolve the issue, you can try the following steps:
- Please clear Outlook Cache: How to Clear the Outlook Cache (lifewire.com)
- Check if the add-in is up to date. In Outlook, select File > Office Account > Update Options > Update Now. This will download and install the latest updates for Outlook and the add-in.
Feel free to reply back for any further questions
Warm regards,

Thanks for your advice. I removed the Viva Insight Add-in. I didn't install it, and I now don't trust it. I did clear the cache too. That's always a good thing to do. I'm going to add the Viva Insight to the annoying things Microsoft pushes on us. Our organization is in the process of removing the Feed function too. It's way too intrusive.
Thanks,
Val
- Ahmed_Masoud97Iron ContributorI understand your frustration, Val!
I assumed it was a temp glitch.
Wish you always the best π

Hi vclark1966, I apologize that this happened to you. That would be alarming, I will pass this along to the product team to let them know of this bug and ask them if they have seen it before/know of a fix.
I will let you know if they come back with a temporary solution.
