OneDrive stuck on "signing in"

Copper Contributor

Hi,

I'm trying to use Onedrive and Onenote, but it seems to be really terrible 50% of the time. Sometimes when I log on my pc, it says I have to log in, and in doing so, is stuck on a "signing in" loop, until it says some error code about me not having an internet connection.
Here's what I've tried:
1. Close and open Onedrive
2. Removing auth from the pc and adding it again
3. Reinstalling Onedrive
4. Change Wi-Fi
5. Do a /reset in Windows run AND cmd
6. Update drivers
7. Install the newest Onedrive from the website
8. Try the app-version found in Windows Store

What am I supposed to do? I don't want to restart my pc every time it doesn't work, that's a terrible fix.

The problem was solved.
There is a link to another ondrive in files and folders on my ONDRIVE.
I no longer had access to this other ONDRIVE.

I removed the links and the problem disappeared.

@LeonPavesic Thank for your suggestions but in my case I tried all the things you suggested and failed. But based on your Item 3 " Run OneDrive Troubleshooter: " I think about Windows Troubleshooter.

I ran it, selected the application OneDrive and when windows asked about the issue I got and I select the Issue related to Display and it SIGN-INed successfully. Thank God.

So I share my experience here maybe help someone else.

P/s: I run Onedrive version 21.220.1024.0005 on Windows server 2012 R2

I follow all step but still stuck at here 2 day. Anyone resolve issue on Window server 20212 like this Thanks

@Peter_Hung

That's why microsoft sucks

It seems that i have not seen this trouble again, what I have suspect and try:

-Unlink desktop/document/the other one
-Less synchronizing because people synchronise too much stuff out there
-maybe they fixed the MFA ?

I'll follow-up if I'm seeing the trouble again.

Fact is, Microsoft 'fixes' are bo**ocks. If the OS is W7 , which one of my laptops is, you're buggered. It worked perfectly (W7) until a  week ago, now it doesn't. Upating OneDrive is not an option, as it won't install on W7. Sure, jumping through hoops - stopping, unlinking,restarting... etc., signs you in. But as soon as computer wakes from sleep it's stuck on signing in again.

@Kevil870On my 2012 Onedrive also stopped working. I found an ODL utility to inspect OneDrive logs. In the logs, I found a "UserAgentBanned" entry. On version 21.220 and on version 21.230. I think this is the end station for Server 2012. Microsoft has blocked older clients that can still be installed on Server 2012 : 21.320. Apparently you need to migrate to 2016

Thanks for your reply.  I was unable to find any of that info.  This is insanity.@kcCodeMonkey

@yoyouo

Download the utility from here https://github.com/ydkhatri/OneDrive . She needs Pyton. With this utility, you can view OneDrive logs. I tried different options and decided to migrate from 2012 to 2016. Everything worked out. If there are any questions with migration, I can advise you

- Check your internet connection: Ensure that you have a stable internet connection. Sometimes, a poor connection can prevent OneDrive from signing in.
- Restart OneDrive: Close the OneDrive application completely and then reopen it. Sometimes, restarting the application can resolve temporary issues.
- Restart your device: Rebooting your computer or mobile device can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.
- Update OneDrive: Make sure you have the latest version of the OneDrive application installed. Updates often include bug fixes and improvements that can address sign-in issues.
- Check your credentials: Verify that you're entering the correct username and password for your Microsoft account. If you're unsure, try signing in to your Microsoft account on a web browser to confirm your credentials.
Had a similar issue for 10 days with multiple users, the below steps did help:
- Azure AD non-interactive sign in logs showed the application "OneDrive SyncEngine" failures with error code 50020 and the resource tenant ID in the details was pointing to our previous tenant before the T2T migration.
Performed the below steps:
- Removed all the WPJ accounts from "Access Work or School accounts".
- Removed the registry key HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity
- Removed
"C:\users\%username%\Appdata\local\microsoft\onedrive\settings\PreSignInSettingsConfig.json"
- Removed "C:\users\%username%\Appdata\local\Microsoft\OneAuth" and "C:\users\%username%\Appdata\local\microsoft\IdentityCache"
- Removed all OneDrive and Microsoft related credentials from credential storage.
"rundll32.exe keymgr.dll,KRShowKeyMgr"
- %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset (This failed hence unlinked OneDrive from the device and re-added)
hi, if you used any vpn software in your windows, just go to control panel> internet options>connections>lan setting and uncheck "proxy server" checkbox.
Mine did not work when installed via Microsoft Store, but it worked when downloaded via Website: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/onedrive/download
Same issue - 24 july 24

@lismzimba

Having the same issue.  I think I've accepted the fact that Windows is just built like trash.

Have a personal Mac, and I have never run in to the issues I have with Windows.

Hi,

Keep having the same issue of one drive stuck on "signing in".

Anyone has a proven solution that will fix this issue?

Thank you

Installing from the website https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/onedrive/download solved my problem.
