How to free up space on one drive by deleting files

OneDrive is on the cloud and also on your computer. What you do in one place in OneDrive is reflected in all the other places in OneDrive. Your Documents, Desktop, and Pictures folders are part of OneDrive unless you turn off the syncing of these folders in Manage Backup.
However, to play it safe, keeping files on a drive other than the C: drive will ensure that they can never sync to OneDrive.

HI NikolinoDE,
Thank you for your assistance
After Trying Every thing on searching on the internet(including Microsoft) I wasted approx 5 hour & Nothing worked( I was sure it was Microsoft Crap Updates on either OneDrive or I suspect Microsoft Edge
So Something I should have done a lot earlier
Re install C: from my Backup & it worked
Thanks Again

To free up space on OneDrive for Business by deleting files, follow these steps:
- Sign in to the OneDrive website using your work account.
- In the left navigation pane, select “Files” to view your OneDrive files and folders.
- Select the files or folders that you want to delete by clicking the check box in the upper-right corner of each item.
- Once you have selected the items you want to delete, click the “Delete” button in the top menu bar.
The selected files and folders will be moved to the OneDrive recycle bin. If you need to recover a deleted file or folder, you can do so by going to the recycle bin and selecting the item you want to restore.
Please note that when you delete files from OneDrive for Business, they are only removed from your OneDrive storage and not from any shared locations or other users’ OneDrives.
If you need to remove a file from a shared location or another user’s OneDrive, you will need to do so separately.
I hope this helps!

Hi NikolinoDE
I don't get the whole onedrive thing - when I open it up, I can't see what's on the onedrive and what's on my laptop but everything I'm working on currently has got a X next to it!
Any ideas much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Joanne

To give you a step-by-step fix for those red X's, please tell me:
1. Is this a Personal (@outlook/hotmail) or Work/School account?
2. What does it say for storage used at the bottom-left of onedrive.com?
3. Are you on Windows or Mac?
4. Have you emptied the Recycle Bin on the OneDrive website yet?
5. What is the folder path shown at the top of your File Explorer window?
