Word crashing with "BUG in libdispatch"

Greets -

A user's Word is crashing several times a day. Sometimes he is not even working in the app when it crashes. Once it crashed when he didn't even have any documents open.

His system.log shows a variety of the following error every time there is a crash:

 I've tried to reinstall Word, including deleting all the library files as detailed https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/uninstall-office-for-mac-eefa1199-5b58-43af-8a3d-b73dc1a8cae3 but to no avail.

Does anybody know what is causing the libdispatch failure and how we might resolve this?
