Microsoft Teams private teams only

Is it possible to restrict users to create private teams only. Screenshot attached.

  • RahulJad No this isn't possible but there is a suggestion for this feature that you can support here, so Microsoft can consider adding this option in the future:

  • You can run Team creation through an automated process using Power Automate and or Power Apps which will call graph to create these Teams and even put them through an approval process, but there isn't anything built in. Org-Wide Teams are only available to Tenant Admins, but you can restrict all Team creation or allow it.

That said, you basically turn off Team creation. Have a SharePoint list or something that accepts "Requests" for Teams. Then you have an account that does have Team creation ability to monitor this list and create a team on behalf of the request as it gets dropped in there. Once complete you can have an e-mail go to the user, but they will see the Team appear in Teams once complete. You can have this use a Teams Template and be Private.

So it's possible, just a bit of setup to accomplish it :).
