Microsoft Teams doesnt show banner unless you maximize the window

Hello,

I have a customer who said about a week ago he is not able to receive banners when he gets a message unless he maximizes Teams. We checked his banner settings and show that he has it enabled.

I reinstalled teams and rebooted, so far no resolution. Has anyone else experienced it? Thanks.

  • I had a user not getting banners as well and spent some time to no avail. I am flying back out and want to see if maximizing makes it work. Odd thing was windows notifications were not working in web client either. Have you tried web client for windows notifications?

So... I think I semi-figured it out. If you minimize the Teams window, the banner doesn't show up, however if you just switch windows and leave Teams in the back ground not minimized, the banners DO show up. I had some of my team here test it themselves and sure enough Teams banners only show up if the Window itself is switched out, not minimized. But I cant figure out how to show banners when minimized however, they only appear after I bring it back up.Hopefully this can give you an idea.

I think I've noticed that if you have your chat focused on one of your contacts and minimize, it won't pop up the banner for that person.  It seems to for others maybe?  I really want it to pop up for all activity when I've selected to have All Activity notifications pop up; but it doesn't work.
