How can I ONLY get the little red badge, but not the banner notification?

Copper Contributor

I've tried customizing my notifications so I wouldn't have to see that constant banner popup, and apparently when you remove that, it takes away the red badge too. I am now missing important messages and it doesn't reflect well. The only options I see are Banner and Feed, or Only Show in Feed. But if I only show in feed (which is currently on), I have to actually open teams to see my notifications. If I have Banner and Feed, I'm getting CONSTANT popups in the top right corner of my computer (and Teams ignores Mac's do not disturb setting).

Can someone tell me how to customize my settings so I can see the red alert badge, but no other disruptive notifications?

Hi @laurelvia

I see you are using a MAC. It's literally just been confirmed that MAC Native notifications are now supported on 10.15 and above

Change the notification settings to MAC in Teams and they should respect do not disturb

Let me know and hope that answers your question :D

@Christopher Hoard thank you I will check out these things!

Hi Chris, I tried that and am still having the problem. I've now tried many different combinations and configurations. Right now I have everything possible turned on and I am still not getting a red badge on the dock icon, but the annoying popup banner in the corner has resumed ;) I have tried the Mac setting, and the only thing that does is respect "Do Not Disturb" when I turn it on. Seems like there are no other notifications even when I have them all turned on. @Christopher Hoard

If I don't have everything turned on, I miss messages. They don't even load until I click on Teams, at which point they "load" even if they were sent 10 minutes ago. It's either that, or the constant appearance of the banner.

Hi @laurelvia

Is this still an issue?

Thanks for following up! I think with my last mac update it's fixed. I keep my computer settings on Do Not Disturb, and I haven't been seeing a popup for every message. I AM seeing the little red badge, which is what I wanted! Here are my settings:
