Hi All,
I have a request to retain teams chats, channel messages and private channel messages for a specific duration of time.
I've put in a DLM retention policies to handle this, however It's also been asked that deleted messages are purged as soon as possible.
I can see we can use messaging policies to block deletion of messages, however there doesn't seem to be an option to remove the "undo" function of message removal. Ideally if the user deletes a message, make it irrecoverable to the user but keep the message as per configured retention requirements.
My queries are:
- Can you block the undo of message deletion?
- If not, how long does the undo option last on a client, is it indefinite?
- Has anyone else had a similar request?

SolutionHi @Miike,
here are the answers to your queries:
Blocking the "undo" feature for message deletion:
Microsoft Teams doesn't have an option to disable the "undo" function for message deletion. While messaging policies can be used to prevent message deletion, blocking#/disabling the "undo" feature doesn't exist.
Duration of the undo option:
The specific time frame for the "undo" option in Microsoft Teams is not clearly specified in the provided resources, but generally the "undo" option lasts for a short period, around 10 seconds, allowing users to reconsider and restore a deleted message.
