Recent Teams enhancements to assist with your transition from Skype for Business to Microsoft Teams

Available Now

• Teams/Skype Consumer interop – Teams and Skype for Consumer users can communicate via chat and VoIP calling (Preview release with general availability planned by the end of April, see the announcement here and learn more here)
• Screen sharing in Teams/Skype for Business interop – Enables a Teams user to share their screen in chat or VoIP call with a Skype for Business user
• Native federation for 1:1 chats – The Teams chat experience is the same whether communicating with colleagues or external users
• Presenter and attendee roles for meetings – Meeting organizers can now define roles for meeting attendees: presenter and attendee
• Dynamic emergency calling for direct routing – This feature of Microsoft Teams Phone System uses the caller’s current location to route to a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP)
• Shorter retention – Teams Compliance Administrators can set a Teams chats retention policy as short as a single day

Rolling Out

• Location-based routing – Restricts the call routing between VoIP endpoints and PSTN endpoints based on the party location, and enforces authorization rules for call routing to PBX or PSTN endpoints
