Windows Update For Business - Feature Update not offered‎

Hello,

 

We have created an Windows 10 update rings rule.

 

The "feature update deferral" setting is currently "7 days".

 

The rule is applied to a group of machines.

 

A profile for telemetry is also applied.

 

The issue is that feature updates are not offered to all machines.

 

Attached is an example of a machine running Windows 10 20H2 which should go up to version 21H1 but the update is not offered in Windows Update.

 

In the WindowsUpdate.log file obtained by the Get-WindowsUpdateLog command, there is a notion of version 21H1 but I cannot determine why it is not offered.

In line 106, it is written 21H1.

DataExpDateEpoch_21H1=1630108800 --> Why 8/28/2021 ? The rule has been applied for severa months ?

 

At the last line : *FAILED* [80246007] ISusInternal:: IsCommitRequired

 

I did another test which is to set the value "Feature update deferral period (days)" to 0 and create a "Windows 10 feature updates" rule to version 21H1. The update is proposed and installed. But this is not the solution we want.

    Did anyone find a resolution to this? I'm having the same issue with Windows 10 21H2 and 22H2. 30 devices are not detecting the update. 200 devices updated without issues.

      thetechguy I had to go digging through policies and make sure that my Update Rings and the groups targeted were all in order. There were some cases of systems bleeding into other groups which caused some policy conflicts. Check to make sure the rings and the Feature Updates configs are all simplified as much as possible. Once I found the conflicts between grouping and rings/Feature Update settings, most of it sorted out.

    Pithivier29 Any update on this? I seem to have the very same issue on some of my systems. 

     

    We have been trying to get systems off unsupported OS versions and have targeted long before expiration of support with no success. I am getting same information in logs.

    Could you also post the update settings from the client itself or maybe comparing a working device and a not working device?

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PolicyManager\default\Update\ConfigureDeadlineForFeatureUpdates

    And to be sure there are no left overs (if you were using wsus.. cant tell from the question)

      I compared the registry keys, they are the same between a working device and a not working device. The configuration is the same on each device.

       

      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate does not exist for all device, is this normal ?
