Office 365 Excel on MacOS Catalina

I can't scroll through a spreadsheet with a few thousand rows without excel pausing and the spinner popping up. Excel takes up 100% of CPU, and opening the spreadsheet with a different user on my computer doesn't change anything. Another person on a separate computer had the same issue with the spreadsheet. I am able to open the spreadsheet and scroll fine on a mac with Mojave installed.
