Microsoft Wants You to Use the Outlook Brand Correctly (but OWA is still OWA &Outlook’s a fat client
Microsoft set out to rename OWA as Outlook on the web last year. That effort never gained real acceptance in the Exchange community, but in fact the project isn’t to rebrand OWA. Instead, it’s all about preserving and building out the Outlook brand across multiple clients and different experiences. Microsoft is struggling against the weight of history here, so don’t expect any great success anytime soon.

I got this what's new message after updating Office 2016 this week (current channel) - "Get Outlook on your phone - the Outlook you love, now on your mobile device", which I found a bit bizarre when Outlook for iOS & Android is hardly new. So is it more like an advert in that case or a branding exercise...
- I would personally vote for simply 'Outlook' or 'Outlook anywhere'. Simple is the way to go and Outlook is still the much more recognizable brand by regular folks compared to OWA in my opinion.
