Key Changes in Microsoft 365 You Need to Know - November 2023 Update

In the Spotlight:

  • Microsoft 365 Copilot Generally Available: Microsoft 365 Copilot, an AI-powered tool, is now generally available. It seamlessly integrates with Microsoft 365 data and apps, boosting productivity.

  • Auto Rollout of Conditional Access Policies: Microsoft will automatically protect customers with managed Conditional Access policies. This includes MFA for admin portals, per-user MFA users, and high-risk sign-ins.

NEW FEATURES:

  • Option to Disable Roaming Signatures in Outlook on the Web: Admins can now disable roaming signatures for Outlook on the web, putting control in your hands.

  • Admin can Control Users’ Inbox and Calendar Sharing in Outlook: Administrators can now control and disable users' sharing capabilities in Outlook, ensuring data security.

 

RETIREMENTS:

  • Translation Feature Retirement in OneNote for Windows 10: The translation feature in OneNote for Windows 10 is retiring. You can use the OneNote app for translation.

  • Classic Search in Purview Portal Retirement: Classic Search in Microsoft Purview portal is bidding farewell. Get ready to embrace the "New search" feature.

  • Deprecation of Secret Groups in Viva Engage: Private unlisted groups in Yammer are getting the axe. Exceptions may apply for those with prior approval.

  • Exchange Transport Rules (ETRs) Stopping Support for DLP Scenarios: Exchange DLP-related actions and conditions are going away from mail flow rules.

  • Users will no Longer be able to Add Password SSO to Apps: End-users can't add password SSO to apps, but admins still can.

 

ENHANCEMENT:

Ability to View Declined Meetings in Outlook: A new calendar setting lets users preserve declined meetings in Outlook.

 

RETIREMENT POSTPONED:

PowerShell Cmdlets for Managing User Profile Photos: Microsoft has delayed the retirement of PowerShell cmdlets for managing user profile photos. The new retirement date is now set for late March 2024, giving you more time to adapt.

 

EXISTING FUNCTIONALITY CHANGE:

Pin Based Verification Process for Support Callers: Starting November 1, enhanced verification is required for Microsoft Support phone-initiated cases.
