Power query for Mac
- Apr 30, 2022
Chris_BWC Here are the steps to take:
- On the Data tab of the Ribbon, click the Get Data (Power Query) button
- In the file browser, select the csv file you wish to use and then click the Get Data button
- In the resulting dialog click the Next button
- In the Preview file data dialog click the Transform Data button in the lower right corner
The PowerQuery editor will then display.
There is no "Transform Data" button shown in lower right corner. The only buttons displayed are: "LOAD" and "CANCEL"
The Transform data button is totally missing.
I've also tried using the preview channel.
My version of Excel 365 is 16.64 (latest version as of 2022-07-06).

Would appreciate any ideas how to get this feature to work without having to start Windows...
- JimGMacJul 07, 2022MVPHi again
Is your Mac OS system set to US English? I don't think localizations of the editor have rolled out yet. - Morkus2OfficeJul 08, 2022Copper ContributorYes.
Any idea when Transform Data will be available on Mac?

Transform Data is now available to Office 365 subscribers who have current updates installed. It may require a specific license type and US English as the system language.
- Morkus2OfficeJul 10, 2022Copper ContributorYes, I have US English, and the latest version of Excel 365 (16.64). But as I've said above, there is NO Transform data shown. It's just CANCEL LOAD. That's all.
It's weird you have different functionality. I guess I need to open a trouble ticket with MS. - Morkus2OfficeJul 10, 2022Copper ContributorI also have a business 365 license.
Let me know how your license, version, installed language, or whatever could be (or is) different.

Morkus2Office Version 16.64 is the beta channel build. When it comes to new features, not all beta channel users will see the new feature. Some users get the new feature while the rest is a control group. My install is US English with an E5 enterprise license. Even having all the requirements is no guarantee you will have a new feature while in the beta channel.
- Morkus2OfficeJul 11, 2022Copper ContributorWell I was on the regular channel, 16.62, before and it wasn't there, either. I read somewhere that you needed to be in the beta channel to try to get these new features so I tried that, too.
I guess it's Windows or nothing for many Office 365 features.

The way the beta program works is that new features can be random. Microsoft can set say 10% will get the new feature in any week's beta channel build. Each week when the new build is released you have a shot at getting a new feature. As Microsoft's confidence in having a trouble-free feature increases, the size of the group getting access to the feature is enlarged. There is a web site you can use to track what's officially being released and when. That said, the site tends to document what's new after the feature is open to all beta testers. When I searched for PowerQuery none of the functionality I have is mentioned.
