Hi, Microsoft 365 Insiders! My name is Greg MacEachern, and I'm a Product Manager on the OneNote team. I'm excited to share that Copilot functionality has come to OneNote for iPad and Mac, exclusively for our commercial customers.

Commercial customers can now leverage Copilot in OneNote to boost their productivity on iPad and Mac

Increase your productivity with Copilot in OneNote for iPad and Mac

We know that too much of your time at work is taken up by tedious tasks, and you want to spend more time on things that bring you joy and ignite your creativity. With Copilot in OneNote for iPad and Mac, you can handle tasks faster and more efficiently.

Copilot is by your side, embedded in OneNote and other Microsoft 365 apps you use every day. It helps you unleash the power of AI to generate higher productivity, more creativity, and leveled-up skills.

How it works

    1. Sign into your Microsoft 365 commercial account and open a OneNote notebook associated with this account.
    2. On the Home tab, select the Copilot button.

Select the Copilot button on the Home tab to open Copilot on your iPad or Mac

    3. Ask Copilot a question or get help with whatever you’re working on.

Use Copilot in OneNote to make completing work tasks faster and easier, such as summarizing meeting notes

Scenarios to try

  • “Summarize my meeting notes using bullet points on a new page.”
  • “Generate a list of topics to be covered at our annual company investors meeting.”
  • “I’m launching a new wholesale coffee bean and roasting company. Give me 10 suggestions for a company name and vision statement.”
  • “Help me plan for the opening of a team office in Tucson, using my notes on this page.”
  • “Suggest three ways I can rewrite this paragraph to be more concise.”

Known limitations

  • The voice input feature for Copilot in OneNote is currently unavailable on iPad (a fix is coming soon).
  • Copilot currently only has context on sections and pages; notebook context is coming soon.

Requirements

To use this feature, you must have:

Availability

This feature is available to Beta Channel users who meet the requirements outlined above and are running:

  • OneNote for Mac: Version 16.90 (Build 24101387) or later
  • OneNote for iPad: Version 16.90 (Build 24100817) or later

NOTE: This feature is not yet available for Microsoft Copilot Pro users (consumer licenses); however, it’s coming soon!

Don’t have it yet? It’s probably us, not you.

Features are released over some time to ensure things are working smoothly. We highlight features that you may not have because they’re slowly releasing to larger numbers of Insiders. Sometimes we remove elements to further improve them based on your feedback. Though this is rare, we also reserve the option to pull a feature entirely out of the product, even if you, as an Insider, have had the opportunity to try it.

Feedback

We want to hear from you! Here’s how to send us your feedback:

  • Mac: Use the thumbs up/thumbs down button in Copilot or select the Feedback button at the top of the app to submit your thoughts about this feature.
  • iPad: Use the thumbs up/thumbs down button in Copilot or go to Settings > Send Feedback to give us your input.
