What do we need to activate Copilot in Microsoft Teams?

Brass Contributor

Hello,

What do we need, as a company, to activate Copilot in Microsoft Teams?

What kind of Microsoft subscription/licence do we need to have it in MS Teams?

Thanks

Fernando

Hi @FernandoTrigo,

to activate Copilot in Microsoft Teams, you can follow these steps:

  1. Use Copilot during Teams meetings to instantly summarize key discussion points and suggest action items.
  2. Ensure the meeting is transcribed to enable Copilot, unless the organizer enables Copilot without transcription.
  3. Note that Copilot won't function in meetings hosted outside the participant's organization.
  4. If joining a recorded or transcribed meeting 5 minutes or more after it starts, a notification will prompt you to get a summary.
  5. Post-meeting, access Copilot in Teams meetings through the Recap tab once the meeting concludes.

Regarding Microsoft subscriptions/licenses, you'll need a separate Microsoft 365 Business Standard or Business Premium license.

@LeonPavesic can I use the free version of copilot in my personal copy of M365?

Hi @LeonPavesic

About your step 2, if that is enabled as this document expects:

AllowTranscription : True
Copilot : Enabled

but still users are unable to change the copilot settings to "Copilot without transcription":

Also, when looking for the current instructions: Use Copilot without recording a Teams meeting its menu options looks a bit different, looks like classic Teams? So could there be differences between classic Teams and Teams V2?
