Powerpoint Company Branding

Steel Contributor

Has anyone been able to get company branding on PowerPoint creation to work seamlessly?  I've spent tons of time, with different types of templates to get this feature working with copilot on presentation generation, but I continue to get 'Sorry I can't do that' as a response.

Is it just in preview at this point?  I have followed the required master slides documentation, etc, and have generated multiple different versions to try get something working.  The templates show in PowerPoint correct when making a new file, however, copilot won't seem to utilize them.

Unfortunately its not available yet. What we are doing now is opening the branded template erasing the existing content and ask Copilot which seems to working.
There is a SharePoint feature called "Asset Libraries", where you designate certain libraries, such as templates, images etc at the SharePoint admin level and then these "should be available to the whole organisations - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/organization-assets-library.
Unfortunately, our SharePoint Admin has not done this for us yet, but I am hoping this might work/help. If anyone else has implemented asset libraries, I would be interested to know the results and if it helps copilot with branding
way past that point. The Asset Libraries works fine inside of all the office products. The templates, the fonts, the images, all load fine. The issue is that copilot doesn't seem capable in pulling data out of those libraries today. (or at least not publicly available)
Thanks, good to know, at least I shall stop pestering our admin now 😄
We have also been looking for this feature very badly. Unfortunately it is not available. What we do is open the template, remove existing content and then start creating with PPT.

This is not related to Copilot exactly, but it does help with the approach of "opening the template and removing all content" is to put corporate branding on the Slide masters, not the actual slides. Copilot does not affect the slide masters. I noticed Copilot adds pictures, even when I do not want it to do so, but all I have to do now is say "remove pictures from every slide" and this works. My usual steps are:-

  1. Create a New ppt based on template with branding and graphics in the slide masters.
  2. Using copilot, type "Create me a presentation from<file>, do not add any pictures"  (Note I still try to get it to NOT add pictures, but this has only worked once, but I still try every time
  3. To remove all the pictures, simply tell copilot to "remove" every picture on this presentation"
  4. The "remove pictures" command will not affect your branded images in the slide masters.
  5. Now you can right click any slide layout you do not like and select one of your branded layouts

In our template, many different styles of backgrounds, backgrounds and layout have been added.  But if you wish to edit these you can edit the slide master's in your specific presentation and add your own graphics.  It is not perfect, but is a good work around.

Potential solutions include:

  • Double-checking master slide setup: Ensure correct structure, placeholder names, and functionality.
  • Updating Copilot and PowerPoint: Check for the latest versions of PowerPoint.
  • Experimenting with different template formats: Try .potx or .potm.
  • Considering alternative branding methods: Manual application or third-party tools, for example, if you make medical templates use RxSlides, customizable for branding feature ,or use Slidesgo to present general topics.
  • Providing feedback to Microsoft: Report the issue to help them improve the feature.

By following these steps and providing feedback, the user may be able to resolve the issue and successfully implement company branding in their PowerPoint presentations using Copilot.
