Outlook Client Search Indexing (not working after upgrade to 2016)

So trying to understand, what are the RIGHT settings / best practices to optimize searching for emails in the Outlook client, including if the user has access to Shared Mailboxes.

Shared mailbox search seems to suck in Outlook desktop at the moment, there have been some suggested settings on here but for at least one client we had to remove auto mapping on the shared/delegated mailboxes and add the accounts seperatly (not ideal).
