If you're encountering an "Upload Failed" error while trying to save an Excel file in Excel for the web, there could be several reasons for this issue.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

(Before you carry out the steps below, I recommend restarting your computer; sometimes you can run into small problems this way. Afterwards, you must carry out an update in the operating system and Office, and only then go through the steps).

  1. Check File Size: Ensure that the size of the Excel file you're trying to save is within the limits allowed by Excel for the web. Large files may fail to upload due to size restrictions. Try reducing the size of the file by removing unnecessary content or splitting it into smaller files if necessary.
  2. Internet Connection: Make sure you have a stable and reliable internet connection. A poor or unstable internet connection can cause issues with uploading and saving files in Excel for the web. Try switching to a different network or troubleshooting your internet connection.
  3. Browser Compatibility: Verify that you're using a supported and up-to-date web browser for accessing Excel for the web. Microsoft recommends using the latest version of Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Safari, or Mozilla Firefox for the best experience. Some features may not work properly in older or unsupported browsers.
  4. Clear Browser Cache: Clear your browser's cache, cookies, and temporary files. Sometimes, cached data can interfere with the proper functioning of web applications like Excel for the web. After clearing the cache, try saving the file again to see if the issue persists.
  5. Check File Permissions: Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to save changes to the Excel file. If the file is stored in a shared location or SharePoint site, make sure you have appropriate access rights to edit and save the file.
  6. Temporary Server Issue: Occasionally, temporary server issues or maintenance activities on Microsoft's end may cause disruptions in service. If you suspect this might be the case, try saving the file again after some time.
  7. Try Different File Format: If you're encountering persistent issues with saving the file in its current format, try saving it in a different file format (e.g., Excel Workbook (.xlsx), Excel 97-2003 Workbook (.xls)) and see if that resolves the problem.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the "Upload Failed" error when saving files in Excel for the web. The text was created with the help of AI.
