SAP HANA Connector in Power Query

I´d like you to comment over the connector between Excel (Power Query) and SAP HANA Database. I just want to make sure that using the connector does not damage in any way the performance of SAP HANA Database or compromise its security, and that it is intended to be used as by final users and not (only) for developers. The basic idea is just to download fact tables avoiding using Analysis for Office.

The IT department from the company I work, tells me that the connector between Power Query and SAP HANA are not intended for final users, that its use will imply performance problems in SAP HANA not to mention problems regarding security. It is that the case? Is any reason why final users should not use the connector?
